2017 Kidding Notes: This is our second kidding with Rose and she has been great during both deliveries. She's a quiet doe and doesn't show a lot of signs until she is ready to push, even then she doesn't make a big production of things. She pushed out a 4 pound 15 ounce buck completely unassisted this year, then made his small sister look easy.
2017 Breeding Notes: Rose's second freshening udder was near flawless, she scored VVVE 89 at Linear Appraisals and easily earn her Advanced Registry (AR) Milk Star in 2016 in volume, fat and protein by milking over 1,000 pounds during her 259 day lacation This pairing is a loose line breeding on Rosasharn's UMT Tupelo Honey. After 4 Reserve Grand Champion titles, Rose has finally earned her first leg towards her Championship.

2017 Kidding Notes: Mattie showed almost no signs she was headed into full labor. Stood through most of her contracts and only laid down when it was time to push the first kid out. Unfortunately, the first buck presented "hocks" first and she needed a little help straightening him out. Once the legs were correctly positioned he slid right out. Second two kids she delivered easily all on her own, She is a very attentive mother and we so look forward to future kiddings with her.
2017 Breeding Notes: Mattie had a lovely first freshening udder and has 1 Reserve Champion win under her belt. We look forward to getting her on Milk Test, Linear Appraised and into the ring in 2017. We are excited about pairing her with Higgs Boson. This will be a 6% line breeding on Algedi Farm Drops of Jupiter and combines some of the nicest genetics available on the west coast. If she blesses us with a doe we will definitely be retaining her!

2017 Kidding Notes: We knew we had a lot of babies on the way, Darlin' was much larger than she had been the year before when she kidded with triplets. It was Easter Sunday and that morning I couldn't find her ligaments. At 7 pm that evening we had milk test and hoped she would wait until after the test was over. She labored quietly and showed little signs she was ready to go. By the time we got into the stall she already had two kids on the ground and the third on the way. Minutes later the fourth arrived. Much to our surprise the first four were all does. Five minutes later she started pushing again and out came a nice healthy boy, then after 10 minutes a surprising sixth kid! Unfortunately, the sixth kid, another little doe was stillborn. She looked perfectly healthy, we think she just didn't arrive quickly enough. Darlins a pro at pushing babies out and we could not be happier with this seasons litter.
2017 Breeding Notes: Darlin' is solid gal in all categories, if I had to pick something to improve it would be added dairy character. With a touch of refinement she would be perfect. We think Red is just the guy to accomplish this. Reds dam, Castle Rock Sarafina (EEEE 92) is an incredibly dairy doe, scoring a 32 in Dairy Strength on her 2015 LA. We look forward to retaining a doe from this pairing and we are keeping our fingers crossed the little lady has blue eyes :)
Darlin' will finish her 2016 lactation with over 1400 pounds of milk, 75+ pounds of butterfat and 58+ pounds of protein. This should be enough to land her a spot on the Top Ten Breed Leader List! We are thrilled with her milk production!!

2017 Kidding Notes: Hazel's by far is my favorite doe to watch deliver babies. She makes it look effortless. She delivered 2 days early this year and she waited until I did the 9 pm barn check to let me know she was ready and waiting. Not 5 minutes after I arrived she laid down and very quickly pushed the first kid out. The next 3 followed within minutes and in Hazel fashion she was completely done delivering all 4 kids in well less then 10 minutes. She has never needed any assistance and is a very attentive, wonderful mother. She had no problem keeping up with and feeding quads last year and we expect the same from her this year.
2017 Breeding Notes: Super Capacious is the only way to describe Hazel's 2016, second freshening udder. Hazel milked a whopping 6.6 pounds at her first test at 26 days fresh and then followed that with 7.4 pounds on her second test. She has very soft texture, huge orifices and is by far our easiest doe to milk. Hazel will finish her 2016 lactation with over 1500 pounds of milk, 78+ pounds of butterfat and 63+ pounds of protein. This should be enough to land her a spot on the Top Ten Breed Leader List! We are thrilled with her milk production!!
Pairing her with Higgs is a 3% Line Breeding on Rosasharn's TL Zenith.

2017 Kidding Notes: Spanish Sunrise was pen bred this year so we didn't have an exact due date. It felt like it took forever for her to finally go into labor. We were a little nervous because she is our smallest doe and she only sono'ed with 1 kid. Took us forever helping her pull on him to finally welcome the little guy into the world. But she did great for being so tiny and delivering a 4 lb 12 ounce boy. We will be breeding her to Higg Boson this fall and hopefully she gives us more than a single!
2017 Breeding Notes: Lady may be small but she is a little power house of a doe. We were very happy with her first freshening udder and even kept a daughter. We look forward to seeing what she produces with the stellar genetics in Higgs pedigree.

2017 Kidding Notes: Claire provided us with our first assisted delivery tonight. I knew when she was not progressing at the normal rate that something wasn't right. I could feel a hoof in the birth canal but her contractions weren't propelling the baby any further forward. I finally determined I had two back hooves. Great! No problem next contraction I will give her a little help...then felt a large head on the top of my hand. I had the back hooves that belonged to one kid and the head of a second. Without even thinking I pushed the head back in and quickly found the two feet again and gently pulled. I could feel the whole babies body slide into the birth canal and out she came. Next two babies presented head only and had to dig around a bit to find a hoof or two. I am fortunate Claire is a big girl and had so much room to work. She is a great mom and has recovered from the kidding and is taking excellent care of her triplets.
2017 Breeding Notes: Claire is really starting to come into her own. She kidded with a single as a first freshener so we expect to see lots of additional capacity this coming spring. She has tremendous body capacity for such a young yearling and is really starting to look like her dam. We look forward to watching this girl mature!

2017 Kidding Notes: Seems like you are always holding your breath waiting to lift that freshly born tail excited and hoping for a doe. In Gingers case I was really kind of hoping for at least one buck. I think I "hoped" a little too much because she blessed us with not one, but 3! Then Ginger tossed in a little doe for good measure. She decided 4 am would be a good time to have them make their debut and had the first buck on the ground before I made it to the barn. It wasn't long after that she stood up and very easily pushed out the next 3 while standing. All are healthy and Ginger is doing great.
2017 Breeding Notes: Ginger was our sleeper doe in 2016....our little wall flower, then she kidded and Oh Man did she knock our socks off. As soon as she milked off some of her pudgy baby fat you could really see that elegant dairy character emerge. We are looking forward to getting her in the Show Ring in 2017 as a 2 year old second freshener. We think pairing her with Red will add even more refinement, this is one of our most promising breedings for the 2017 season! We retained a 2016 daughter and initially didn't plan on retaining one in 2017....but we have changed our minds!

2017 Kidding Notes: Fairly please with Tessa's first freshening delivery. She carried on like she was dying, but in the end she delivered 3 healthy kids, mostly unassisted. We helped convince her she could push out her first (tiny-2 pound) kid, the next two she did by herself. Her newly first freshening udder is looking very impressive and we can't wait to get pictures of her udder to post on the website.
2017 Breeding Notes: This is a strong line breeding on Tupelo Honey and should produce some very correct kids. You can't beat the combination of genetics that are coming together in this breeding. Tessa easily earned her dry leg and as you can see from the picture is maturing into a lovely doe.

2017 Kidding Notes: Melody started showing signs of labor early in the evening and quietly labored until she started to push around 1 am. She did a great job delivering a 4.65 pound healthy buck all by herself. From the start she was a very attentive first time mom and only waited about 10 minutes before delivering her second kid, a healthy little doe. We are very happy with the maturity she is starting to show and can't wait to see what her full udder will look like. Melody has always been a very quiet doe, but is talked non-stop to her babies for a few hours after they were born. It was very cure to hear.
2017 Breeding Notes: We just love the way Melody is maturing and can't wait to see her FF udder. She is very refined and we think it will take her some extra time to grow into the long elegant body. She'll be worth the wait! This is a lovely little line breeding on Twin Creeks BW Montego Bay...right at 1% when 10 generations are taken into account.

2017 Kidding Notes: We noticed Time's ligaments were gone the morning she kidded. She spent the day fairly relaxed and at no point seemed to be in much of a hurry. As the evening approached, I started to feel a little concerned that things were not progressing and she never seemed to be pushing very hard. Then the pushing started at 8pm, it took her almost 30 minutes to push out a large 4.5 pound buck, but she did it mostly unassisted. We did help tug on the hooves a bit once we knew the position of the head. When she finally pushed him out we were all sure by the look of him that he would be well over 5 pounds...we were off just a little. Within minutes she delivered the first of two does in the breach position, followed by the second of her does about 20 minutes later. The last little doe only weighs 1.9 pounds, but all seem healthy and are doing well. Time is extremely attentive and keeps her little ones in sight at all times.
2017 Breeding Notes: Time has a wonderful pedigree and is maturing very nicely. She will be just shy of two when she freshens in 2017. We think the strong dairy character and length of body that Red Hot Saracha brings to the table will compliment Time nicely.

2017 Kidding Notes: As a yearling there isn't much to Dezi yet and I worried a bit about how she would handle kidding for the first time. She made it look like she was an old pro. First was her 3.8 pound buck kid, followed by a 4.7 pound healthy doe. She kidded without assistance. It took her a few hours to understand she actually needed to feed them, but by the next morning her mothering instincts kicked in full force. We look forward to next season when we plan on keeping a daughter from her.
2017 Breeding Notes: We think Castle Rock Moonrakers lineage is pretty special and because of that we will be experimenting with a tight line breeding on him with these two. The pairing is a 6.33% line-breeding. Dezi will be bred late to kid in April. These are two of best lines Castle Rock has to offer!

2017 Kidding Notes: Bisou was only 13 months when she kidded for the first time and she is officially responsible for the large kid born at Hidden Hills to date. She had a monster 4 lb 15 oz buck and then followed up with a second buck at 2 lb 3 oz. It took her a few minutes to push out her first big boy but she did a great job and didn't need any help at all. She is a very attentive mom and we look forward to watching her develop into a mature doe.
2017 Breeding Notes: Bisou is looking so nice we plan on keeping another doe from her dam this coming spring and waiting to keep one from Bisou until she freshens a second time. This is probably one of my most anticipated first freshener breeding and I think who ever snatches up a doe from this pairing is getting a phenomenal deal on a very promising little package of genetics.
