Our first official retained Junior Herd Sire! Out of the almost 50 kids we had born during the 2018 kidding season, this is the kid I love to look at the most! His dam has long been one of my favorites and I strongly feel that Melody when looking back will be seen as a cornerstone in our herds history. His dam is everything we want our does to be and I can't wait to have her beautiful genetics past to future generation through this handsome little man. I am so impressed with his masculine build, extra long body and smoothness of blending. Deeds shows prominent withers, tightly set elbows and lovely strength of brisket. He has a long lean neck. nice spring of rib and very soft skin. I especially love his long length of body (I think I already said that!), which reminds me a great deal of his dam at this age.
Deed's Dam, SGCH Bellafire BP Country Melody 1*M (EEEE 91 @ 3yrs 2m) swept all three rings at the first show of the season as a three-year-old. She was an impressive sight that day! Melody was so long bodied and elegant as a junior doe, I knew it would take her a few years to grow into and fill out all that length...at three years of age...she did it! She is also so very impressive in the milk bucket, milking 5.6 pounds at 41 days fresh into her second lactation. We can't wait to bring Melody to Nationals in 2019!
His Sire, Higgs Boson has consistently been passing a very wide rump to his daughters, this has been particularly enjoyable come kidding season. Higgs parents are the infamous Drops of Jupiter and Zenith, two animals that many herds can trace their success back to. Higgs is tightly linebred on Zenith and we expect him to pass on her dairyness, correct conformation, and milking ability. Zeniths EEVE 90 LA was earned at 8 years old, where she held a V or E in every single category across the board. The correctness Higgs brings to this pedigree is exciting!
